CHINCHINIM: SCC Cavelossim edged past Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 4-3 via tie-breaker to enter into the quarter-finals of the 15th CRC Chinichinim Cup football tournament organized by CRC Chinchinim, at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim on Thursday.
In the early minutes of the first half Cristbern Estebeiro tried a solo effort and hit a long ranger shot which should have crashed into the nets of Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda but the rival goalkeeper was upto the mark.
Crossing over, both the teams tried to score the match winner but the strikers lacked sharpness at either ends.
Mauvin Rodrigues of SCC Cavelossim fired from the close range in the 48th minute off a connect from Hasten Dias but to his dismay Don Bosco goalkeeper grabbed the ball.
At full time the score was 0-0.
In the ensuing tie breaker SCC Cavelossim netted through Crisbern Estebeiro, Mohammed Shaikh, Hasten Dias and Mauvin Rodrigues while Jaison Pinto, Roque Borges and Haniston Furtado converted for Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda.
SCC Cavelossim will clash with Ambelim SC in the quarter-finals on August 23.
Earlier, Rossman Cruz Nagoa, Verna edged past Varca SC 2-1 to move into the semi-finals. Savio Fernandes and Ajoy Satorkar scored for Rossman Cruz while Columbia Noronha pulled a goal back for Varca SC.
