SCG, CA match postponed after player tests positive

PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa’s (SCG) encounter against Calangute Association (CA) scheduled to be played today (February 18) became the first match of the Goa Football Association Goa Professional League to get postponed due to a COVID-19 case, the association confirmed on Wednesday.

 “The postponement has been necessitated as one of the team’s player has been reported to be Covid-19 positive following the Covid-19 RT-PCR test,” stated the GFA in their press report.

According to the sources close to the GFA, the club notified the association on Wednesday evening and the State association immediately acted upon the request of the club to postpone their match as a precautionary measure.

 “The GFA has drawn the attention of the team players, officials of teams, supervising match officials, support staff to take appropriate preventive measures and strictly follow the Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) as well as to strictly follow the highest standards of hygiene, wearing masks, washing of hands with soap, maintaining safe distance, avoiding crowded places and monitoring the less common, most common and serious symptoms as circulated by GFA.” Further stated the release issued by the GFA.
