PANAJI, MAY 7
A majority of sports scribes who have assembled for a five-day sports journalists’ convention (SJFI) gave a big thumbs up to the decision of the Union Sports Ministry to limit the tenure of sports administrators, who – in turn – have revolted against the move. To an opinion poll, “Do you agree with Sports Minister, M S Gill’s move to limit tenures of National federation heads?”, over 99 per cent of the 70-odd journalists from 16 States attending the convention said “yes”. Less than one per cent said that they did not agree with the move.
On the opening day, 94 per cent voted in the affirmative to the query, “Will the Indian Premier League continue to flourish even in the absence of the now suspended Lalit Modi”.
