PANJIM: Santa Cruz Society of Poitomado scored a resounding 8-0 win over Dramapur Sports Club in the Goa Football Association Third Division League played at Cavelossim ground, on Thursday.
SCS Poitomado dominated the entire play and scored at regular intervals with Negil Pinto and Willy Fernandes scoring a brace each for the winners.
Poitomado attacked from the word go with Mathew and Nezil tormenting the rival defence. Anthony Viegas and Melvin Fernandes created chances in the middle and they broke the deadlock in the 19th minute through Nezil. Nezil doubled the account in the 24th minute before Melvin Fernandes further inflated the account to 3-0. The winners led 3-0 at the break. Dramapur’s Eldrid Pereira and Akshya Konkre had their chances but the players failed to take the opportunities.
Later Willy Fernandes scored the fourth goal in the 49th minute. Royal Oliveira scored the fifth before Willy completed his brace in the 74th minute. Camson Oliveira and R Gonkar were the other goal scorers for the winning side.
In another match at Tilamola ground, Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club Paroda eased past Chandor Club 3-1. Fr Agnelo had their star striker Sladen Fernandes with two quick goals giving his team a two-goal cushion in the 6th minute. The winners led 2-0 at the break.
In the second half, Vinod Barge reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute but they couldn’t restore parity as Sladen completed his treble in the 85th minute to once again give his side a two-goal cushion.
Meanwhile at Mandopa ground, Navelim, St Sebastiao Youth Club walked triumphant with a 6-1 win over Enfermos Sports Club.
Christopher Borges scored a brace for teh winning side. Vellino Barreto, Jordon Azavedo, Franjoy Furtado and Savio Fernandes were the other goal scorers for the winners.
Cajetan Dias was on the scoresheet for Enfermos SC.
At Benaulim ground, United Club of Benaulim rallied to beat United Boys Dando of Benaulim 2-1.
Jollson Afonso gave Dando Boys Benaulim the lead in the 7th minute before Manfred Fernandes made it all square in the 11th minute.
The teams were tied 1-1 at the break. Crossing over, the fight continued till the additional time and when it looked like the teams would share the pounts, Stallone Fernandes helped United Club of Benaulim record a fluent 2-1 win over United Boys Dando, Benaulim with a 90+1 minute match-winner.
