PANJIM: SDPO Vasco emerged champions of the 5th inter-unit Goa Police football tournament, defeating SDPO Panjim by a solitary goal in the final played at Police Headquarters ground, Panjim, recently.
In a keenly contested final, Mouzan Shaikh’s strike proved to be the difference between the two sides. He was awarded the Man-of-the-Match award for his performance.
Altogether sixteen teams participated in the tournament.
Chief guest IGP Jaspal Singh gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of SP Shekhar Prabhudessi, SP Sports Bossuet Silva, Dy.SP Sports Anthony Monserrate, SDPO Margao Sarfin Dias and other Goa Police officers.
The winners were richer by Rs 15,000 while the runners-up settled for Rs 10,000.
Vasco Police Inspector Rane later gave away the cash reward of Rs.15,000/- to the family of late LPC Shaila Gaundar of Vasco PS.
