Seminar on counselling strategies at MES

PANJIM: The MES College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar  (reaccredited by NACC with B++ grade) will organise an ICSSR-sponsored National seminar on “Counseling strategies for enhancement of physical and psychological well-being,” on February 3 and 4 at the college premises, Zuarinagar.

The 2-day seminar will be conducted by the departments of psychology and physical education and sports of MES College in association with the Psychologists Association and National Association of Physical Education of Goa.

Prof Freda Cota e Pereira, head, department of psychology and P A Borgave, director of sports, the co-ordinators, stated that the seminar will address various aspects of sports psychology focusing on the psychological or mental factors that affect an individual’s overall performance.

“The main objective it to enhance physical and psychological well-being of individuals, thereby enabling them to cope with the demands of life,” disclosed Freda.

“It will provide a platform for sports psychologists, coaches, sports administrators and specialists in both fields to exchange views and experiences in their area of expertise,” remarked Borgave.

In all, there will be six sessions, from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. covering physical and psychological issues concerning an individual’s performance, emotional intelligence and sports, self-efficacy, self-esteem and sports, managing psycho-somatic symptoms through counselling techniques, therepautic interventions for physical and psychological well-being, factors affecting team building, disclosed
