MARGAO: Over 40 sportspersons aged 80 and above were felicitated for their contribution to sports by the Association for the Wellbeing of Elder Sportspersons (AWES) at a multi-sport festival and get-together, here on Sunday.
While the football and athletics were held at Sinquetim sports complex, Navelim, the BPS Sports Club saw the yesteryear stars in action in table tennis, badminton and tennis.
AIFF General Secretary, Shaji Prabhakaran, who was present at the felicitation function, appreciated the efforts of the organisers to get them together and recognise their contribution to sports.
AWES president, Derrick Pereira, welcomed.
