In what is set to be the game of the season so far, Sesa Football Academy and Vasco Sports Club will lock horns in the Federation Cup qualifying match, at Tilak Maidan, Vasco on Tuesday at 3.45p.m.
Vasco coach Gavin Araujo believes his side has the edge going into the match against Sesa as they have defeated them in four of the last five meetings between the two sides. “Sesa are a very good side, we have all the respect for them but the one thing what will play on their mind is the last season’s results. That is history and we know we have to work hard and give more than 100% to get the result we are looking for.”
Sesa coach, Clifford Chukwuma believes that it was luck that favoured Vasco last season in the encounters. “Although they won four matches, it was luck that shone on them and tomorrow it is our turn to shine as luck will be on our side.”
Gavin summed up, “The never-say-die attitude of my players will help us fight our way through the qualifying stage. We are much focused on the job ahead as we are playing at home (Tilak Maidan), it is our fortress and no one coming here will have an easy ride.”
Clifford believes that he has the best set of youngsters in the State and they are improving with experience in every match. “We have lost to good opponents this season who have put out their strongest sides but my boys are learning quickly and they will deliver,” Clifford signed off.
Confident talk from both coaches ahead of the crunch tie, but only time will tell who takes victory in their stride. Both teams are looking for there first win of the season.
Vasco lost to Dempo on penalties in the Charity Match, they were lucky to get a draw with Churchill Brothers in their opening Pro-League match and then they lost 0-4 to Dempo in the Pro-League.
Sesa lost 0-3 to Dempo in their opening Pro-League match and then lost out to Salgaocar 1-2 in their next match.
