Sesa Football Academy started their 2nd Division I-League campaign on a winning note edging past Delhi League champions Hindustan F.C 2-1 in a Group B preliminary round league match at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, Delhi on Saturday.
The AIFF does not seem to care much about the climate as the players had to suffer the 40 Degree temperature with the match being kicked off at 2 p.m.
In a gripping encounter, Hindustan took the lead through Mahender in the 7th minute to start the proceedings on a confident note but failed to sustain the lead as Israil Gurung brought Sesa back into the match scoring through a solo effort in the 42nd minute.
After the breather, Sesa stepped up the gas on their rivals and scored the winner through Savio Carneiro in the 65th minute.
It was again Israil Gurung who paved the way for the second goal when he was brought down by Hindustan right wing back Anil Bara resulting in a penalty for the Goan outfit. Savio superbly placed the spot kick to the left of Hindustan custodian Vikrant to notch up three crucial points from the opening match.
In the other match, New Delhi Heroes beat Simla Youngs 2-1.
