Sesa FA, Dempo SC register narrow wins

CALANGUTE/ PANJIM: Sesa FA registered a hard-fought narrow 1-0 win over Goa United SA in the Goa Football Association U-16 League match played at Poriat ground, Calangute, on Monday. 
Dempo SC prevailed over Sporting Clube de Goa 1-0, at Don Bosco Oratory ground, Panjim.
Playing away from home, Sesa FA knew it would be difficult to play against a side, who are strong in defence and the same happened on Monday as Goa United played an entire defensive game which frustrated Sesa FA players. Hardly any chances were created in the first 40 minutes and the teams walked in the breather playing a drab draw.
In the second half, Sesa FA kept pressing for the goal and in the 56th minute they were awarded a corner kick. 
Sesa FA almost capitalised on the opportunity as Aman met the header brilliantly only to see it cleared off the line by defender Nilesh Kammar with his arm.
 Referee had no hesitation in flashing a straight red for the defender and pointed straight to the spot. Aditya Talwar stepped up to take the spot kick  only to miss. Sesa FA weren’t at their best, but they had one of the best strikers in Goa —Aryan Salunke and the boy made his recognition once again with a 18-yard strike, which crashed in the far corner of the net The scores remained 1-0 till the final whistle.
Meanwhile in Panjim, in a battle between the two city clubs, Dempo SC walked away with three points.
 Dempo missed a chance to score through Shreyash Naik when he was fed by Dwayne Neto. 
Sporting Clube had their chances through Joseph De Souza but his shot was well saved by the Dempo goalkeeper. 
After the break, Dempo missed two clear chances. First from a corner kick and then Vieri Colaco’s shot was brilliantly saved by Sporting goalkeeper. Soon coach Remus Gomes made double substitutions bringing on Sheldon Fernandes and Shameek Vas and the duo combined together for the only goal of the game.
Shameek Vas dribbled past two defenders of Sporting and passed the ball to Sheldon Fernandes and he made a any mistake in scoring the winning goal for Dempo SC in the second half additional time.
