MAPUSA/RAIA: Sesa FA came from a goal down to edge past Dempo SC 2-1 in the Goa Professional League match played at Sesa FA ground, Sirsaim, on Saturday.
Both teams played on equal footing in the first session where Dempo SC opened their account in the 47th minute through Mevan Dias after Sesa FA defenders failed to clear the ball in their penalty area.
Daniel Gomes was shown the red card after receiving second yellow card in the 80th minute.
Ten-man Sesa FA under the guidance of coach Charles Dias who had brought laurels to Goa in the recent Santosh Trophy came back strongly to equalise in the 82nd minute through Joshua D’Silva after a perfect long ball from Umang Gaikwad found Joshua in perfect position to slot it past the Dempo SC keeper.
Joshua again capitalised on Clencio Pinto’s brilliant play and made it 2-1 in the added time (90+3 min) to secure the win and three points for Sesa FA.
Sesa FA’s Joshua D’Silva received the man-of-the-match award from MC Jayendra Nagvenkar.
Young Boys of Tonca SC downed Churchill Brothers FC 2-0 in the Goa Professional League match played at SAG ground, Benaulim, on Saturday.
Young Boys of Tonca SC’s Saivish Singh opened the account in the 55th minute, while later Rahul Yadav doubled the lead in the 61st minute of the match.
The match between Cortalim Villagers Social Welfare SC and Guardian Angel SC played at Utorda Sports Complex ground ended in goalless draw.
