ONGC edged past HAL 2-1 in a final round clash of ONGC Second Division League at KSFA Stadium, Bangalore on Monday.
Sesa Football Academy and NISA played a 1-1 draw in another league encounter. Israil Gurung scored in the 66th for Sesa FA while N.Dewan Singh drew parity in the 81st.
With both teams already out of the qualifying race, a win could have helped either side to salvage some pride but, their dismal performance continued in the final round as they shared a point each to stay on seventh and eighth places in the standings.
After a pale first half, Sesa took the lead through Israil Gurung, while NISA levelled the account through Dewan Singh.
Both teams have only garnered two points each from five matches
HAL suffered their first defeat in the final round, while ONGC have brightened their qualifying chances.
