MAPUSA: Sesa FA managed to hold Guardian Angel SC to a goalless draw in a GFA Relegation League Match at Duler stadium here, Monday.

After today’s drawn encounter Sesa FA has 12 points while Guardian Angel SC tallied 7.

Guardian Angel, languishing at the bottom of the league table, started earnestly, knowing fully well that a win would save them from relegation.

Their new signing from Ghana, Frank Adusei, was a thorn in the Sesa defense, forcing stopper-backs Myran Pereira and Daniel Gomes to work overtime. And, when they were beaten, it was Sesa’s custodian Roanal Gaunkar who did a commendable job. He brought off two daring saves as he first collected Adusei diving header in the very 2nd minute and then in the 40th minute, pushed over a stiff grounder from Adusei.

As the match progressed, Roanal was back in action. First, he collected Fedrich Fernandes’s deadly cross and then stylishly fisted over Under-20 Valerian Hilario’s firm header..

Sesa had just one good attempt at the rival goal in the 6th minute, but Guardian Angel’s goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues dealt with the situation cleverly.

On resumption, Sesa inducted Kunal Salgaonkar and Chaitan Dabholkar to bolster the attack attack. Clencio Pinto had two good chances to score but he lacked sharpness and was substituted.

Guardian Angel counter-attacked and skipper Gilbert Oliveira’s curling free-kick from the edge of the box was brilliantly fisted over by Roanal. Later, Roanal blocked Fedrich Fernandes’ strike from close.

Sesa’s goalkeeper Roanal was awarded the man-of-the match prize by Anthony Correia.
