NAVELIM/ SIRSAIM: Sesa Football Academy inflicted their first defeat on SCC Cavelossim after a 2-0 win in the Geno-GFA 1st Division League match played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Monday.
After starting the match cautiously, Sesa FA took the lead through Vishnu Gosavi after a brilliant build up.
Both sides tried to keep possession of the ball, this in turn developed into an interesting midfield battle.
Sesa FA had the chance to inflate the lead when Cavelossim midfield fumbled and Olvin charged towards the rival goal but the lad failed to score in one-on-one situation. It was a rather quiet game after the goal with only one shot on target.
Crossing over, SFA starting the game on an attacking note and almost doubled the account in the 52nd minute when their star-player Olvin played a brilliant through pass to Vishnu who placed the ball past the keeper, only to be denied by the goal post.
The Academy top goal-scorer Olvin came with an assist for his side when he played an aerial ball to Vishu who controlled the ball with a sublime finish after a feather first touch to complete his brace.
However, he received a yellow card for taking off his jersey while celebrating his brace.
SCC Cavelossim came close to scoring but SFA keeper Sapam came with a splendid save in a one on one situation to hold on to their two goal cushion.
SCC Cavelossim tried to get back in the game but SFA comfortably kept more of ball possession.
SFA’s Ashley Cardozo who had a brilliant game was named the man-of-the-match.
At Sirsaim ground, after five consecutive draw, Dunes Sports Club finally registered their first win of the campaign following their 4-1 win over Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao .
CSM Taleigao took the lead in the 34th minute through Salu Santos but Dunes came back strongly and pulled two goals back just before the breather through Shashank Ashwekar.
Crossing over, Dunes SC took total control of the game and dominated the entire second half. Leslee Britto made it 3-1 before Shashank completed his hat-trick at the hour mark, and was rightly awarded the man-of-the-match trophy.
