MAPUSA: Sesa FA came with an impressive 3-0 win, to walk past Vasco SC in the GFA’s Goa Professional League held at Duler stadium, here, on Wednesday.
Both the teams came into the match having lost their last GPL match.
After today’s match Sesa FA has six points while Vasco SC are yet to open their account.
The teams played at a fast pace but it was Sesa FA lads that drew their first blood in the 24th minute where from the right flank Sankalp Kankonkar sent a long cross to unmarked Velroy Cardozo at the edge of the box who without any hesitation drilled a fierce left footer past Vasco defender Samaresh Mondal and goalkeeper Badusha Saleem to the far corner of the goal, 1-0.
Vasco in charge Micky Fernandes brought in medio Khaidem Meitei in the 38th minute who along with skipper Francisco Fernandes tried to keep their new signing Mandeep Singh upfront busy but Sesa’s stopper back Saurabh Patil stood tall and confident to curb Vasco’s attack.
Port Towner’s first good attempt came through Francisco Fernandes but his rasping 25 yard strike sailed just over the cross bar.
In the added time Francisco sent a floater to Mandeep inside the 18-yard box but surprisingly the later having just the rival custodian at his mercy fumbled in flicking the ball into the goal.
On resumption, play was mostly restricted to midfield in the first 30 minutes, with both the coaches bringing in fresh legs thus utilizing all of their substitutions.
Sesa FA pumped in two quick goals through Joshua D’Silva and Omkar Shetgaonkar.
A long floater by Clencio Pinto inside the penalty box was smartly finished by Joshua past the Vasco custodian Badusha in the 78th minute, while four minutes later substitute Chaitan Dabholkar moved upfront on the right flank and flashed a grounder across the goal area to see the Vasco defense beaten and Omkar Shetgaonkar tap the ball into the goal 3-0.
Sesa’s Joshua DSilva received the man-of-the-match award from the hands of Damodar Kerkar-former Sesa Goa player.
