Sesa FA’s Melvin LOBO

You don’t need to score always to get noticed in the game of football. Sometimes, good defending can earn the team crucial points and that’s what happened on Sunday at Duler as Sesa Football Academy managed to hold I-League side Churchill Brothers to a goalless draw.
There were chances created, there were clear cut goal scoring opportunities but two goal line clearances denied Churchill Brothers FC full points. It wasn’t their keeper this time but their captain Melvin Lobo. The defender wearing the captain’s arm band put up a skippers performance. He nullified Churchill Brothers attack comprising Willis Plaza and Mauvin Borges.
Melvin gave no room for Plaza to pass through him as he closely marked the foreigner and troubled him throughout the game. Was that his best moment? No. Melvin’s best moment arrived in the first half when he denied Wendell Coelho with a goalline block before frustrating Glen Martins once again with a goal line clearance. If not for him, the academy boys would have been down by a goal.
