MANDOPA: Shadow Boys Zoriwado ousts Mandopa Boys 3-1 via tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of the 1st All-Navelim inter-ward football tournament organized by Youth of Gantamorod Boys, at Mandopa ground, on Friday.
In a well contested match both teams displayed attacking football however the match ended in a goalless draw.
Andrew Colaco of Shadow Boys had the first look at the Mandopa Boys goal in the very 2nd minute of Sachin Astrekar connect but the formers effort from the rival box power packed grounder shot hit the outside goalpost of Mandopa boys and went out of play.
The 20th minute saw Mandopa Boys Reven Pereira tried a solo effort with his solo carpet drive in the tenth minute but to his dismay goalkeeper, Jomack Colaco of Shadow Boys dived to clear the ball for a corner kick.
In the 23rd minute a well combined move of Paxton Gomes to Milagres Figuerido to Agnelo Colaco who later shot wide for Shadow Boys.
Changing over both teams tried to score goals but the defence lines were on the mark. Navin Pereira of Mandopa Boys collected a ball from Travis Mascarenhas and released a high voltage shot which crashed on the outside goal post of Shadow Boys and went out of play in the 40th minute.
As the match progressed, Joel Colaco of Shadow Boys dribbled couple of rival defenders and entered the penalty area of Mandopa Boys and released his shot but Joeble Pereira goalkeeper of Mandopa Boys was equal to the task in the 47th minute.
In the resultant tie-breaker Shadow Boys netted through Milagres Figuerido, Agnelo Colaco and Paxton Gomes while Aulon Gomes converted the for Mandopa Boys.
