PONDA: Shaheen C K, Rutav Kanabar, Aarush Pawaskar, and Soham Naik made it to the finals of the all-Goa Mini & Sub-Junior Major Ranking Badminton Tournament 2024, organised by Ponda Badminton Club and Margao Shuttlers Club in collaboration with the Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, at the badminton sports arena, Ponda.
In the boys doubles U-17 semi-finals, Rutav Kanabar and Shaheen C K defeated Advait Balakrishnan and Owais Tahasildar 21-19, 21-18 in a tough contest, while the other semis was equally engaging, with Aarush Pawaskar and Soham Naik advancing over Om Nandanwar and Vansh Khedkar with a 21-14, 23-21 scoreline.
In the girls doubles U-17 semi-finals, Shivanjali Thite and Sufiya Shaikh outperformed Aarohi Coutoncar and Dimple Revankar, 21-18, 21-17 and Isha Borkar and Jewel Abranches moved forward by walkover against Lakshita Sawal and Minoshka Pereira.
The mixed doubles U-17 semi-finals category saw Shaheen C K and Sufiya Shaikh defeating Shane D’Souza and Saanvi Audi, 21-17, 21-14 while Advait Balakrishnan and Ritika Chelluri advanced over Shubham Swami and Minoshka Pereira with scores of 21-14, 21-7.
In the boys doubles U-11 semi-finals, Pratik Borkar and Varun Sahakari triumphed over Aarav Shirodkar and Viaan Redkar with scores of 15-9, 15-13 while Ayansh Sanke and Krithik Reddy Sripathi defeated Arha Sahakari and Vedh Lotliker, 15-13, 15-11.
In the girls doubles U-13 semi-finals, Avni Khyalia and Palak Ramnathkar overcame Amaira Dhumatker and Ashbah Tahasildar, 21-15, 21-13. Astha Poudel and Pragya Audi triumphed over Netra Jogdand and Pihoo Redkar, 21-11, 21-1.
The boys doubles U-13 semi-finals saw Mohammed Umar and Viraditya Pai Kane outplaying Aanav Kolvalkar and Devarsh Kotkar with scores of 21-14, 21-13, and Samarth Sakhalkar and Vishwa Parab defeated Aditya Prabhu Desai and Viaan Redkar, 21-10, 21-4.
