PONDA: Shantesh Mapsekar, Sneha Mesta, Sneha Rane, Wesley Do Rosario and Tanisi Kirtani topped in their respective categories at the finals of 6th all-Goa major ranking table tennis tournament organized by Mangirish Vidyadayini Samstha, Mangeshi and Wagle HS Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee, at Desai Pratishthan hall, Wagle High School, Mangeshi, recently.
In the cadet boys and girls finals, Shantesh outsmarted Nagesh Verenkar 2-11, 11-8, 11-6, 6-11, 12-10 while Sneha Rane got the better of Sanisha Shetye 11-4, 11-4, 11-8.
In the mini-cadet boys and girls sections, it was a double crown for young Shantesh, who defeated Aaron Colaco in straight sets 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 while Sneha Mesta managed to get past Simran Kubal 11-1, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8. Wesley Do Rosario outplayed Varun Gangodkar 11-7, 11-5, 11-3 and Tanisi Kirtani overpowered Prutha Parrikar 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 in the sub-junior boys and girls finals respectively.
Businessman from Sanquelim Praveen Blagan was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Chief Referee Shrivishnu Kolwalker and Secretary of Goa Table Tennis Association Sagar Sakordekar. The other dignitaries present were Vice Chairman Audhut Kamat, Secretary Sudan Kunkolienkar, Headmistress of Wagle High School Mitasha Aigal, Vice-President of Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee Gaurish Abhisheki and Sports in-Charge Sanjay Nadkarni.
Earlier, tournament coordinator Sagar Sakordekar welcomed the gathering.
