PANJIM: Shantesh Mapsekar, India’s number two ranked player was in full flow as he registered a commanding 3-0 straight sets win over Nagesh Verenkar, India No. 3 cadets ranked player, in the Sub Junior Boys singles final at the Adv Madhav Rao State Table Tennis Championship, organised by Goa Table Tennis Association in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa, at Indoor stadium, Campal.
The cadets boys title was also won by Shantesh with a 3-0 win over Aarav Aiyar. Wesley Do Rosario came back from 2 sets down to record a scintillating 4-2 win over Dheeraj Rai to win the Men’s title while Mallika Gogoi was in cruise control against Prutha Parrikar, whom she defeated 3-0 to emerge ladies champion.
Taniya Patil scored a pulsating 3-1 win over Aditi Chodankar to lift the sub junior girls title while she also emerged winner in the junior girls category defeating Prutha Parrikar 3-1.
Wesley Do Rosario beat Mandar Joshi 3-0 in junior boys singles to win his twin titles. Sunidhi Savoikar beat Trisha Verlekar 3-2 to win the mini cadets girls category while Simran Kubal easily accounted for Sneha Mesta, winning 3-0 in the Cadets Girls category.
The mini cadets boys title was won by Aaron Farias, who beat Akshan Lwande 3-0. On the occasion, India Number 2 and No 3 ranked players, Shantesh Mapsekar and Nagesh Verenkar were felicitated by Chief Minister and chief guest Manohar Parrikar.
Adv Madhav Rao, and Goa TT Association officials Vero Nuners (President) and Vishnu Kolwalkar (Secretary) graced the prize distribution occasion.
