PANJIM: Sharda Mandir School beat Saraswat Vidyalaya, Mapusa by 7 wickets in the U-14 Boys President’s Cup, at Binani ground, on Friday.
Saraswat Vidyalaya batted first and put up 158 for 9 in the allotted 40 overs.
Yash Karekar was the top scorer of the innings with 43 runs while the other batsmen tried to put in a decent effort to contribute to the total.
The Sharda Mandir bowlers put in a formidable performance as they picked up wickets at regular intervals. Manas Keluskar and Akshat Jain grabbed 2 wickets each while Arav Shinde, Smit Dalvi and Tanishq Korgaonkar picked a wicket each.
In reply, Sharda Mandir School chased down the target in 27.1 overs. After a dreadful start, it was Neehan Khaunte who anchored the innings for his team with a knock of 84 runs.
Although the Saraswat bowlers got off to a bright start by picking 3 wickets in the first 3 overs, they failed to be consistent ultimately losing the match.
Sanyog Gauns grabbed 2 wickets while Varad Karmalkar and Neil Paryani pciked a wicket each.
