PANJIM: A devastating spell by leg-spinner Shivlay Naik (5 for 9) ensured the entry of Bhatikar Model HS into the semi-finals of U-14 GCA’s President Cup beating Loyola HS at Arlem ground, Margao.
The match truncated to 15 overs due to overnight saw Loyola winning the toss and electing to field. Only Heramb Parab (22) and Rahul Mehta (11) could contribute against some tight Loyola
bowling. Six Bhatikar batsmen were run out.
Chasing the seemingly modest total was difficult as Shivlay Naik struck form and some accurate bowling by Guruprasad Naik, Anish and Abhishek Naik restricted Loyola to 51 for 9 in 15 overs.
Kaushik Hattangadi (12) was the only batsman to cross double figures.
Shivlay was named man-of-the-match.
