PANJIM: Shree Nagesh Maharudra Sports & Cultural Club registered a hard-fought 2-0 win over Fotball Club Mardol in the Goa Football Association Second Division League, at Agassaim ground, on Thursday.
The teams dished out a good brand of football but a goal eluded them in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the story continued as both teams struggled to find the break through. Finally in the last quarter of the game, Shree Nagesh Maharudra scored two goals through Mayur Vernekar and Sandesh Kunkolkar to win 2-0.
At Jai Kisan ground, Zuarinagar it was a one-way traffic as Cortalim Villagers & Social Welfare Association scored at regular interval to record a comprehensive 5-0 win over United Youth Club of Bogmalo. There were five different scorers for Cortalim who led 1-0 at the break.
Clinton Fernandes, Nicklas Noronha, Joel Tavares, Roycen Azavedo and Melroy Moura scored for the winning side.
In another match at Taleigao ground, Ronit Sports Club defeated Aivao United Football Club 4-1. Aivao United were first to take the lead through Chandan Mehta in the 18th minute. Ronit SC managed to restore parity just before the breather through Antonio D’Costa in the 44th minute.
In the second half, Ronit scored three more goals through Antonio, who scored two more goals to complete his hat-trick while S Fatarpekar netted the other goal for the winners.
At Rosary ground, Navelim, United Club of Telaulim hit six past Carmel
SC. Jayson Costa scored a treble while Milton Colaco scored a brace.
Nativity Colaco was the other goal scorer for Telaulim.
