PANJIM: Shree Nagesh Maharudra SCC and Sateri Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association Second Division League at Agassaim ground, on Sunday.
The teams evenly contested the first 45 minutes as both sides settled for a goalless first session.
In the second half, Shree Nagesh Maharudra enjoyed brief spells in the game and in those moment they took advantage of a Sateri SC error in the midfield and broke the rival defence to score through Shubham Vernekar.
Sateri SC did try their best to break the rival half, but the luck was with them as they denied Shree Nagesh full points scoring in the 90+5 minutes through Vilas Bandekar, 1-1.
Meanwhile in another match at Taleigao ground, Aivao Youth Club registered a thrilling five goal win over Football Club Mardol. Aivao led 2-1 at the break.
Starting the match on an aggressive note, Aivao Youth Club attacked in numbers from the word go. They played long balls in the rival half making it difficult for their opponents to get adjusted to the play.
Aivao broke the deadlock in the sixth minute through Pavan Martins.
The goal put them in driver’s seat and having control of the game they doubled the account in the 11th minute through Rohit Gauns.
Clatus Godinho pulled a goal back for Mardol at the half hour mark.
In the second half, Aivao continued their dominance and soon at the hour mark regained their two-goal cushion scoring in the 57th minute through Akshay Gauns.
Mardol were hesitant to give up as they pressed hard in the final 10 minutes of the game and were rewarded with another goal in the injury time when Royston Vaz put the ball at the back of the net to make it 2-3.
Though it looked like they would get back into the game, time ran out for Mardol.
