PANJIM: Shriya Patil climbed to ninth position with 6.5 points following her impressive win against Kamalini Nimban K in the Round 9 of the 31st Under 7 Girls National Chess Championship 2017, organised by Andhra Pradesh Chess Association, at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday.
The Goan youngster is trailing the joint leaders Shreya G Hipparagi and Hatvalne Swarali by 1.5 points.
Meanwhile, Naik Drishti remained on five points as she lost against Amruta Jasti. Goa’s Raikar Rivia also lost to Muthya Ne. However, Ikra Sarfaraz moved up to 4.5 points after stunning Suneli Bera in the ninth round. In the Open category, Goa’s Atharva Sawal went down fighting to Mrinmoy Rajhowa to stay on six points at the end of ninth round.
Meanwhile, Goa’s Dharmaditya Sandeep Naik, who is on three points, was beaten by Ranade Abhijit.
Despite their round 9 defeats, other Goan lads –Prabhu Varad and Pratnesh Malvankar are on four points.
