Shyamlal rides to victory at Navelim Supercross

Shyamlal Parsekar displayed excellent skills to emerge champion at the All-Goa YMCT Supercross 2011 organised by YMCT Entertainment and United Boys of Navelim, at Telaulim ground, Navelim, on Saturday.
Cheered by motor enthusiasts, the supercross attracted huge crowd but were disappointed as they missed the action of National Supercross and Motoross double champion Allan Sequeira, who underwent hernia operation at Kamat Nursing Home, Margao, on Wednesday. He witnessed the event from the stands.
Shenehal Chavan of Pune secured the second placed while Goa’s Sarvesh Naik narrowly missed to settle for third place.
The Pune based lad Shyamlal, was heading the race right from the start to finish to win the Motto II Indian Expert Class. Shenehal came second while Goa’s Sarvesh Naik finished third.  The Motto II laps were reduced to 6 from 10 due to poor visibility.
In the Motto I Indian Expert Class, Shenehal Chavan was a picture of confidence today. He rode majestically and stamped his class to bag the top honour. Shyamlal Parsekar missed the podium as he finished close second. While Sarvesh Naik secured third.
The Goan riders also showed dazzling performance and gave the outstations riders a tough fight. It was the opening race and the final round that kept the enthusiastic crowd on their toes.
The other races were also fiercely fought on table to jumps tracks inviting the maximum applauses. In Motto I and II classes, the first, second and third places received cash purses of Rs 5,000, 3000 and Rs 2,000 respectively while other races’ winners got Rs 3,000, 2,000 and Rs 1,500.
Earlier, PWD Minister Churchill Alemao flagged off the Motto II Indian Expert Class in the presence of chief guest Chief Minister Digamber Kamat.
Chief minister and PWD minister gave away the prizes.
Edwin Cardozo, Zilla Panchayat member of Navelim constituency was the special guest while Meena Baretto, sarpanch of VP Telaulim; Bishut Themudo, GFA executive member; Santrito Borges, panch of VP Navelim and Fredric Borges PA to PWD Minister were the special invitees.
Results: Novice Class (4 laps) — Rabbani Mulla, Joaquim D’Silva, Charles Fernandes.
Stock Class (5 laps) — Pinkesh Takur (Pune), Shenehal Chavan, Rabbani Mulla.
Scooter Class (2 laps) — Prajot, Mandar Prabhu, Debhav Mangaokar.
National Novice Class (6 laps) — Mohammed Shahabuddin, Raju Patil (Kolhapur), Prateek Prabhudessai.
Indian Expert Class Motto I — Shenehal Chavan (Pune) Shymal Parsekar (Pune), Sarvesh Naik.
4 Stoke Class (5 laps) — Pinkesh Takur (Pune) Raju Patil (Kolhapur) Pratteek Prabhudessai.
Motto II Indian Expert Class — Shyamlal Parsekar (Pune), Shenehal Chavan (Pune), Sarvesh Naik.
