MAPUSA: Sinquerim Sports Club put up a stiff challenge and managed to hold Goan Warriors to a 3-3 draw in the fourth round league match of the GFA 2nd Division League, at Duler stadium, on Wednesday.
Goan Warriors took the lead in the 12th minute when Chetan Shirodkar got hold of the ball from Oscar D’Souza and slammed the ball into the net to give his side the lead.
Sinquerim did not wait for long and came up with the equaliser through Donald Rochato.
The Goan Warriors managed to surge ahead yet again when in the 31st minute, Kunal Virnodkar’s deep cross took a deflection off Sinquerim defender Abel Dias’ legs before sneaking into the net giving the 2-1 lead to the Goan Warriors.
Changing over, Goan Warriors further inflated the lead when Omkar dribbled his way past defenders and set up Kunal who tapped the ball into the net to make it 3-1.
However, Sinquerim did not lose hope and were rightly rewarded when they came with two quick goals which came in the 77th and 79th minutes through Crizol Alvares and Mayur respectively to complete a dramatic 3-3 comeback for the Sinquerim Sports Club.
Meanwhile , at Astro turf, Fatorda, St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda cruised to a comfortable 5-3 win over Carmel Sports Club.
St Anthony SC were two goals ahead in the first half through Jaison Dias who scored in the sixth minute and then Richard D’Sa doubled the lead just before the breather.
St Anthony SC outplayed their opponents in the first session and continued their form in the second session and soon scored two more goals through Sezvin Fernandes’ brace, who scored in the 51st and 58th minutes respectively.
Melvin Souza was the other scorer for St Anthony SC. Carmel SC managed to score goals through Jilto Tavares, Lerinsius Carvalho and Stendly Miranda to reduce the deficit to 3-5.
