PANJIM: Sinquerim SC thrashed Xetrapal SC 5-1 in the Second Division League organised by Goa Football Association (GFA), played at Quitula ground, on Wednesday.
Both teams got off to an even start and pressed hard to find the opening goal. But neither of the defences allowed damage as both teams headed into the half goalless.
Post resumption, Prabhakar Mauligar opened the scoring for the winners in the 52nd minute but the Xetrapal side came out strong and equalised in the 75th minute through Vasudev Agarnadekar. But it was the last 10 minutes of the game that changed the final scores as Sinquerim SC went all out in the final minutes to run riot onto the opposition.
Dipan Tilve and Karan Hoblescored in the 81st and 84th minutes respectively as Chandan Narulkar and Chandan Govenkar added two more goals in the 88th and 90+3 minute to walk home with all three points in a game which witnessed a major turn at the final minute.
In another game played at Agassaim ground, Odxel Sports Club beat Merces SC 3-0.
Swapnil Divkar scored in the 40th minute with a fine finish in the nets as Shubham Gadekar netted another in the additional time of the first half. On changing sides, Odxel SC added another final goal in the final additional time through Ajay Divkar.
At BITS ground, BITS SC edged past Chicalim SC 1-0. Parth Mandan scored the lone goal for the winners in the 58th minute.
Elsewhere, Cortalim Villagers and Rising Stars played out a 1-1 draw. Samuel D’Silva scored for the Cortalim side as Rihit Mista made it all square as both teams shared points.
