It was Sinquerim who had two good chances to take the lead in the first session of play. In the eight minute, Navnath Chodankar dribbled past a host of Sangolda defenders but his placement on entering the penalty box missed the target narrowly.
Minutes later, Mandar Narvekar sent a fine through ball to Swanesh Kalangutkar but the latter’s flick over the keeper did not find the target.
At the other end, Sangolda’s Alex Alvares did the spadework and set up Nikhil Naik whose blistering shot was saved by Raya Candolkar.
On crossing over, Sangolda came with renewed ideas and should have scored twice through Sadab Sheikh. First, the strikers header sailed out off a cross by Yogesh Mayekar and than he failed to give finishing touches to Alex Alvares’ cross.
Finally, in the 45th minute, Sinquerim broke the deadlock as Navnath Chodankar scored off a pass from Dattaraj Tari.
It did not take long for Sangolda to level terms as Yogesh Mayekar made a solo run and scored, 1-1.
In the 56th minute Dattaraj Tari was once again instrumental in the winning goal as he sent a superb pass to Gopi Gad, who slotted the ball into the nets, 2-1.
On Monday, Pilerne Sports Club take on Milagres Sports Club, Mapusa.
