Siolim boosted by GFDC presence

PANJIM: The Siolim Football Development Centre engulfed in green and yellow colours of Goa Football Development Council as over 130 grassroots trainees received full football kit from GFDC Chairman, Dr Rufino Monteiro, at Siolim, recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Member Secretary of GFDC, Aleixo Da Costa expressed his pleasure in seeing young children taking up football with great interest and urged parents to encourage their children to train regularly at the centre as now the career path for football players is very promising and lucrative.
Dr Rufino disclosed that the Siolim centre will be receiving nutrition after training at the centre to improve stamina and performance.
The good news did not end there. He further revealed that the Siolim centre will have a sub centre at Holy Cross High School, catering to more children in GFDC’s grassroots program. Dr Rufino urged trainees to grab the opportunity and train hard and regularly to become future Goan Messi’s and Ronaldo’s.
He congratulated the Siolim centre team comprising of Gregory D’Souza, Lawrence Braganza, coaches Irineu Fernandes and Tony Okafor for working diligently with the young children. Also present for the function were Fr Santo John, Principal of SFX Higher Secondary School; Fr. Dilip Tete, Headmaster of SFX Higher Secondary School and Sr Julie Rodrigues, Headmistress of Holy Cross High School. The function was compered by Kasmiri Pawaskar. Claire D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
