MARGAO: A four-goal blitz by Stanley Fernandes and a hat trick by Ashwin Moraes helped Sirlim Sports Club maul Canacona Sports Academy 10-0 in GFA Under-14 football tournament, at SAG ground, Assolna, Tuesday.
Sirlim Sports Club led 4-0 at the break. In one sided affair, Sirlim virtually toyed the rival weak defence with sporadic raids and kept their opponents on the defensive throughout the match.
Suraj Bahadur struck twice while Selvon Cardozo drove the last nail into rival coffin to decimate the rivals.
Earlier in the morning, Colmorod Ratvaddo Sports Club (CRSC) Navelim trounced United Boys of Palolem 5-1, at SAG ground, Assonla after leading 4-0 at half time.
CRSC started the game on whirl wind fashion and broke the deadlock in the very 3rd minute when striker Jhonty Luis bulge the net.
Spurred by the early success, CRSC intensified their attacks and doubled the lead in the 11th minute when Primax Mascarenhas slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot. In the 26th minute, Myron Gomes put the issue beyond doubt when he punished the rival goalkeeper with clinical finish. Six minutes later, Malapa made it 4-0.
After the break, United Boys of Palolem striker Racher D’ Souza reduced the margin in 44th minute. Ronaldo Pereira drove the last nail into rival coffin in the 68th minute.
Earlier, CRSC defeated Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem 3-2; Young Strikers, Benaulim 5-0.
