MARGAO: Sirlim Sports Club defeated United Club of Palolem 5-3 in the GFA U-16 League match played at Assolna ground, on Wednesday. At half time, United Club of Palolem were leading 3-1.
Both the teams displayed good footballing skills and defence played a stellar role in the first 10 minutes.
Sirlim SC took the lead through Lester Fernandes in the 14th minute but United Club of Palolem equalised with the efforts of Allan D’Silva in the 16th minute.
Ash Shamrao scored for United Club of Palolem in the 20th and 22nd minutes to complete his brace.
In the second half, Sirlim SC doubled the lead again through Lester in the 58th minute. Within six minutes, Shambo Haldankar equalised for Sirlim SC.
With the equaliser, Sirlim SC boosted their confidence and upped their pace in search of more goals. Ryan Pinto made it 4-3 in the 67th minute. Shambo was in form again for in the 70th minute to complete his brace.
