NAVELIM: Sirvodem Sports Club trashed Canacona Sports and Cultural Club, 8-0, in the GFA’s Girls U-14 (South Zone) match, played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Monday.
Dezma D’Costa, the striker of Sirvodem, was at her best while Vencilla Rebello of Canacona Sports and Cultural Club gave her best.
Dezma should have netted in the very second minute itself but her power packed shot was saved by Canacona goalkeeper Bhakti Fondekar. On the other end, Vencilla Rebello of Canacona shot was saved by Sirvodem goalkeeper Shenaiah Jane Baptista in the 4th minute.
Leysha Da’Costa opened the scoreline for Sirvodem in the 5th minute. As the match progressed Dezma scored a brace in the 9th and 24th minute to make it 3-0 for Sirvodem.
In the second half Canacona’s defenders Bleizee Fernandes and Siya Pagi blocked the moves of Dezma while Canacona’s Vencilla Rebello was also instrumental in the defence and forward line too. But it was Dezma who made it 4-0 in the 52nd minute and substitute Aralie Cardozo made it 5-0 in the 59th minute.
Aralie scored her second to make it 6-0 in the 60th minute. Salonee Baretto made it 7-0 in the 66th minute while Dezma scored another in the 72nd minute to make it 8-0.
At Duler stadium, Goan Warriors FC managed to register a hard fought 1-0 win over Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao, on Monday.
The all important goal came from the boots of Angel Fernandes.
Taleigao girls after their last match win against Sinquerim SC played almost on equal footing in the first session of play.
However, crossing over Goan Warriors finally forged ahead in the 45th minute when Angel Fernandes guided the ball past Taleigao’s keeper Veleni Rebello into the goal off a pass from Vedha Niloji, 1-0.
