PANJIM: Smart Boys thrashed Cross Road Boys 4-0 in the final of Colva inter-ward football tournament organized by Brazilian Boys Club, Gandaulim, Colva, at Garden ground, Colva, recently.
The winners were leading by two goals at half time.
Smart Boys took control of the proceeding right from the start and forced their rivals to adopt a defensive play. Subsequently, Smart Boys took the lead through Rosario’s clinical strike while Preston doubled the advantage before the lemon break.
In the second session, Cross Road Boys tried hard to get back into the match but their efforts did not materialize.
Midway, Smart Boys scored two more goals as Preston secured his brace while Shenoy made it 4-0.
Smart Boys were richer by Rs12,000 along with the winners trophy while Cross Road Boys had to be content with Rs 8,000 and the runners-up trophy.
Chief guest Edwin Baretto gave away the prizes. Eulogio Gomes proposed the vote of thanks.
