PANJIM: Sneha Mesta, Santesh Mapshekar, Sneha Rane, Nagesh Vernekar, Tanisi Kirtani, Wesley Do Rosario bagged top honours in their respective categories at the 36th All-Goa Major Ranking Table-Tennis tournament organized by Margao Cricket Club, in Margao, on Saturday.
The winners and runners-up were awarded prizes by chief guest Dinesh Trikannad, businessman and former State table-tennis player in the presence of guest of honour Arun Verlekar, also a former State table-tennis player.
In the mini cadet girl’s final, Sneha Mesta got the better of Trisha Hamnavar 11-7, 11-9, 11-5 while in the boy’s final, Santesh Mapshekar bt Advait Mudras 11-6, 11-3, 11-4.
In the cadet girl’s final, Sneha Rane bt Sanisha Shatye 11-8, 11-3, 11-8 while in the boy’s final, Nagesh Verenkar bt Santesh Mapsehkar 11-5, 13-11, 7-11, 11-7.
Tanisi Kirtani was at her best in the sub-junior girl’s final as she defeated Prutha Parrikar in three straight sets with the scores reading 11-9, 11-5, 11-3.
In the sub-junior boy’s final, Wesley Do Rosario bt Mandar Joshi 12-10, 11-9, 11-9.
Mandar Mapsehkar was judged the best promising youngster of the tournament.
MCC secretary, Apoorv Bhembre compered. He later proposed the vote of thanks.
