Snow’s FA rally to beat UC Benaulim

MARGAO: Snow’s Football Academy, Raia came from behind to defeat United Club of Benaulim 3-2 to move into the quarter-final of South Goa Yarri Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Cuncolim Union, at Government Village School ground, Cuncolim, on Wednesday. 
UC Benaulim adjusted well the ground condition and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Francisco Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Stung by that set-back, Snow’s FA had the best chance but their forwards squandered from close range. 
At the other end, UC Benaulim too had their share of chances and looked to increase their tally but their forwards blasted wide.
The persistent forays paid off and in the 21st minute striker Ashton Oliveira punted the ball to the far corner of the net to put his team on equal terms.
The equalizer boosted the morale of the Raia team as they mounted tremendous pressure on the rival citadel and in the 31st minute, Llyod Cardozo regained the lead when he beat his markers and to punish the rival goalkeeper with neat finish.
Snow’s FA started the game in same vein with their forwards unleashed a flurry of attacks and in the 45th minute, Danny Fernandes put the issue beyond doubt when he his brilliant shot beat the rival goalkeeper. 
In the 49th minute, Francisco Fernandes pulled one more back to register his brace. UC Benaulim went all out in search of equaliser but the rival defenders stood tall in protecting their citadel.
