MARGAO: Strong contenders Sonics boys and girls teams marched ahead in the annual U-16 boys and girls Fr Castellino Basketball Memorial tournament organised by the Loyola Ex-Students Association at Loyola High School court, Margao, on Tuesday.
Sonics girls defeated Rebounders 35-01 with Keiya and Kim sharing the spoils with 14 points each.
Don Bosco Panjim girls edged past Lourdes 10-8.
Sonics boys led by Roy with 13 points, Daniel with 10 points defeated Lourdes Basketeers 27-14. Afzal, Ron and Jeevan all with 4 points held the game for the Lourdes side.
New kids, United Stars led by Kingdavid with 17 points, Kirill with 10 points got the better of Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Panjim 38-17. Kevin with 9 points held the DBO game. In the last game of the day, Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, led by David 13 points, Sean and Nolan on 8 points got the better of St Britto’s High School 42-06. Valentino with 3 points tried his best.
