Special postal cover to be released
5 Olympic hockey gold Goan icons to be projected
30,000 saplings to be planted for Green Games

A special postal cover to commemorate the Queen’s Baton relay passing through Goa on September 7 and 8 will be released by Governor S S Sidhu at Kala Academy hall, here on September 7 at 6.30 p.m.
The cover has been prepared with a special theme of Goa’s rich and cultural heritage and will project five Goan icons of the gold medal winning India hockey team at 1948 London Olympcis – Leo Pinto, Walter D’Sousa, Lawry Fernandes, Maxy Vaz and Reggie Rodrigues.
The cover has been designed by artist Prakash Naik. The event is being coordinated by the Postal Department.
With the forthcoming 19th Commonwealth Games having been declared `Green Games,’ 30,000 saplings will be planted in villages by the NSS, Scouts and Guides units.
The massive drive is being coordinated by the Forest Department.
