BENAULIM: Sporting Club of Davorlim defeated Navelim Villagers Union 3-1 via tie-breaker to storm into the Semi-finals of the 27th Super Soccer inter-village football tournament, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Tuesday.
In the 3rd minute Bonny Niasso of SC Davorlim took a ground shot but, saw his effort saved by the Navelim SC goalkeeper. Thereafter both sides had uptight chances in the first ten minutes of play.
Agnelo Colaco opened the account for SC Davorlim in the 4th minute, but the joy was short lived as Navelim villagers equalized within four minutes through Rovan Colaco making it1-1. SC Davorlim Velington Rocha’s attempt was blocked by Clinton Niasso of Navelim Villagers in the 16th minute.
Beginning of the second half saw a lot of chances created by both the teams. Rovan Colaco of Navelim villagers charged yet again with a beautiful volley in the 38th minute, the effort was futile as the attempt hit the crossbar.
Later, Bonny Niasso of SC Davorlim smashed his thunderous shot on the goal post of Navelim Villagers Union the rebound was cleared to safety by, Rovan Colaco of Navelim villagers in the 40th minute of play.
In the resultant tie-breaker SC Davorlim netted through Bonny Niasso,Velington Rocha and Agnelo Colaco.
While Navelim villagers scored the lone goal through Clinton Niasso. SC Davorlim will meet Betalbatim SC on July 7.
