UTORDA: Sporting Club of Davorlim beat United Club of Benaulim by 4-3 via tie-breaker to advance into semi-finals of the Lourdes festival all-Goa inter-village soccer in memory of late Polly Rodrigues organised by United Club of Utorda in association with SAG Panjim, at SAG ground, Utorda, on Wednesday.
Paxton Gomes of Sporting Club of Davorlim missed a chance at the 12th minute which he shot over the crossbar of Benaulim. In the 15th minute, Benaulim goalkeeper saved a shot by Angelo Colaco which was passed by Paxton. Davorlim dominated the first half of play.
As the match progressed, Meagan Rodrigues of Benaulim missed a golden opportunity who’s shot hit the rival crossbar and went out of play.
In the 50th minute,Angelo Colaco netted the first goal of the match with a beautiful shot which was assisted by Paxton Gomes but the joy was short lived as Benaulim equalised through Mildred Rebello in the 69th minute which was a beautiful long ranger shot.
In the tie-breaker, Sporting Club of Davorlim netted through Angelo Colaco, Joe Gomes, and Venson Figueredo while Osborne Fernades and Arif Pathan scored for United Club of Benaulim.
