RAIA: Sporting Club Virabhat triumphed over Sanduel Sports Club, 2-1, securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the Batora United 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Batora United and held at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday.
In an exciting match, Sporting Club Virabhat had the first opportunity to score through Veslon Dias in the 10th minute. Virabhat took the lead with a goal from Venson Paes, who executed a neat placement to make it 1-0 by halftime.
In the second half, Sanduel’s Tony Dias and Jovial Dias missed several opportunities to score. Sporting Club Virabhat extended their lead when Venson Paes scored his second goal in the 40th minute, completing his brace. Later, Sanduel SC’s Jovial Dias managed to break through the defense and goalkeeper, scoring in the last quarter of the match. Sanduel missed a chance to equalise when Ralf Dias’s powerful shot hit the crossbar and went out of play.
Venson Paes of Sporting Club Virabhat was awarded man-of-the-match for his outstanding performance, presented by Franky Rebello, president of Batora United.
