Sporting Clube de Goa aim to close gap on table toppers

PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa take on Calangute Association in the mid-week fixture at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Tuesday.

Sporting Clube de Goa and Calangute are tied on 4 points each at 5th and 6th position respectively, while the latter has played one match more than the former. 
The Flaming Oranje will see this as a perfect opportunity to climb up to the second position and create some pressure on table toppers Salgaocar FC.
Speaking about the match Sporting Gaffer Mateus Costa said, “This is a very important match for us, we have to do more than 100% and recover the points we dropped in our previous match.” 
When asked about the performance in the previous match Costa said “The first half we played a very good game, but in the second we switched off for a moment and they scored, then we were chasing the lead. The last moment goal was a good come back, but we have to be careful not to throwaway matches from an advantageous position.” 
Speaking about Calangute Costa mentioned, “They have a good team and they are known to grind out results also they get a good crowd support, we have learnt from our mistakes in the previous match against them and will try not to repeat the same.” 
“We have worked out our game plan and will go ahead with the same, we will work our way around them,” he added. 
Speaking about the injury concerns Costa added, “It is a difficult to manage when the players in your plan get injured but I look at if from the positive side, there are a lot of youngsters who are talented enough to step up to the occasion. This is a good chance for them to prove themselves and I have faith in their abilities.” 
With the race for top half of the table intensifying this fixture will definitely be a treat for the football lovers from Goa.
