Sporting Clube face tough task against Sudeva Delhi FC

Dempo SC to face Maharashtra Oranje FC at Ella ground

PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa have to start afresh as they take on Sudeva Delhi FC in the I-League 2 at Ambedkar Stadium, in Delhi, on Saturday, at 4 pm.

Sporting Clube go into the fixture after a disappointing 0-1 away defeat against SC Bengaluru. The Flaming Oranje dominated the proceedings but their strikers fell short to provide the goals. Moreover, second half substitute Mark Carvalho missed a glorious chance to equalise as he missed to convert a penalty at the hour mark.

On Friday, the two sides from Bengaluru extended their advantage on top of the standings. Leaders FC Bengaluru United defeated Kenkre FC 2-0 in Mumbai while second-placed SC Bengaluru grounded United SC 3-1.

Bengaluru United now have 19 points from eight matches, while SC Bengaluru has 18.

Dempo Sports Club are third with 11 points from seven games and Sporting Clube are fourth with 10 points from seven outings.

Dempo Sports Club will face Maharashtra Oranje FC at Ella ground, Old Goa, at 3 pm.

Only the top-two teams from the eight will stand a chance to qualify for next season’s I-League, the country’s second tier competition after the Indian Super League.
