MARGAO: Sporting Clube de Goa were held to a 1-1 draw by Churchill Brothers Sports Club in GFA’s Taca Goa U-20 Football league match, outside PJN Stadium, Fatorda, on Tuesday.
Sporting Clube started brightly, using the flanks to run at their opponents and create multiple chances in front of goal.
After continuous raids, Sporting Clube finally broke the deadlock when Joel Fernandes sprinted into the box and crossed for Daryl Costa who unselfishly cut the ball across the face of goal for Jesmon Soares to slam home.
In the closing stages just as it looked like Sporting Clube were in the driving seat, Churchill Bros SC forward Arjun took advantage of a lapse in concentration in the Flaming Oranje defence to walk the ball into an empty net for the equalizer.
