Residents have urged the government to urgently improve the con dition of the Margao Police Station and adjoining resi dential quarters following reports of dengue cases in the police station area. They said the reported cases should serve as a wake-up call for the author ities to improve sanitation, drainage and overall living conditions. The Margao Po lice Station also houses the South Goa District Police Headquarters, while the adjoining quarters accom modate police personnel and their families.
Former Margao Munic ipal Councillor Jaffer Bu dani called for an immedi ate cleanliness drive after reports that three police personnel had contracted dengue. He alleged that vehicles seized in various cases had been lying on the premises for a long time, creating mosquito-breed ing grounds, while garbage had accumulated at several locations within the com pound.

Budani urged the au thorities to remove scrap vehicles, clear garbage and maintain proper hygiene to safeguard the health of po lice personnel and visitors. Prabhav Naik demand ed that the government rebuild the Margao Police Station and residential quarters without further delay. Another resident, Shivanand Borkar, said po lice personnel, who work round the clock to maintain law and order, deserve safe and healthy working and living conditions.
Residents also urged the authorities to inspect the premises for mosqui to-breeding sites and take preventive measures to con tain the spread of dengue. Calling for a long-term solution, they said the gov ernment should assess the existing structures and ini tiate reconstruction instead of relying on temporary repairs.
