BJP leader Sanket Arsekar has welcomed the official notification providing political reservation for Goa’s Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, describing it as a landmark development towards tribal empowerment.
Arsekar said the long-standing demand for political representation, particularly among communities in Quepem and Curchorem, has finally been addressed following efforts by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and other senior BJP leaders.
He said the implementation of ST political reservation marks the beginning of a new phase for Goa’s tribal communities, providing them with greater representation and participation in the democratic process.
Arsekar expressed confidence that increased political representation would help accelerate the welfare and development of tribal communities while strengthening their role in governance and decision-making.
He also welcomed the efforts that led to the issuance of the notification, calling it an important step towards ensuring greater political empowerment and representation for Goa’s ST population.
