PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa kicked-off their pre-season practice at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, Tuesday.
It was an interesting morning as new innovative training methods were added to the session by Spanish head coach Oscar Bruzon, such as using tennis balls to improve technique and a rugby ball for quick reactions.
Oscar also continued with the periodisation training system, which he introduced last year after joining the club.
New physiotherapist Brian D’Costa was welcomed to the squad. Brian joins the existing physio Abhinandan Chaterjee in the backroom staff.
Oscar’s coaching team, which includes technical director Alex Alvares was boosted with the addition of Norbert Gonsalves from Pune FC. Manager Anju Albuquerque begins his fifteenth season with the club.
On Monday the club had a special mass at Don Bosco, Panjim to welcome the players back for pre-season, which was attended by president Peter Vaz and CEO Victor Fernandes. The academy players were also present.
