MAPUSA: Sporting Club de Goa have released Japanese striker Seiya Sugishita after his contract expired in May, stated a club official, on Monday.
The former Saitama FC player in the Japan Regional League had signed for Sporting Clube in October 2012 and went on to score his debut goal against United Sikkim on November 18.
However, after a promising start, the Japanese could not make an impact in the I-League, having scored only four times in 18 appearances with one assist to his name.
The 26-year old also found it hard to find his form in the Goa Professional League.
