Sporting Clube resume Pro League campaign against Panjim Footballers

RAIA: Sporting Clube de Goa will resume their Goa Professional League campaign against Panjim Footballers, on March 14, at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, at 4 pm.

 The Pro League had gone into a break ahead of the National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy.  Four players from Sporting Clube represented Goa in the Santosh Trophy where they did remarkably well to finish runners-up against Services by a solitary goal.

 Captain Joel Colaco, goalkeeper Dylan Da Silva, midfielder Dattaraj Gaonkar and forward Lloyda Cardozo were part of the Goa team.

 Now, Sporting Clube turned their focus to the State league where they are fifth in the standings with 30 points from 16 games. Leaders Sesa FA have played two games more and have 33 points.

 Cortalim Villagers are second with 33 points, while Dempo SC are third with 31 points. Both have played 17 games. Pax of Nagoa SC are fourth with 31 points from 18 games.

 Sporting Clube will have an opportunity to reclaim the top spot again and get their campaign back on track.  

 Meanwhile, Panjim Footballers are 12th in the 13-team league and have eight points from 16 games.

 In the first leg in December, 2023, Sporting Clube had thumped Panjim 5-0, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
