Sporting Clube have managed to pocket only one point from their initial two matches and will look at this as an opportunity to make a fresh start grabbing full three points.
A confident looking Sporting Clube coach Mateus Costa said, “The situation is very simple. We have to give more than 100 per cent in this match. We have come close twice but couldn’t cross over the line, it’s that kind of an attitude we are expecting from our team. We have to put up a good show, nothing less than three points is acceptable.”
When asked about how his team has shaped up so far, he mentioned, “We have not really got the kind of results we were expecting. In the first match, throwing away three points after taking the lead and in second match giving away numerous scoring opportunities aren’t really what we had planned for.”
He further said, “It was the initial matches and we had to get our combination right. Now we can see a lot of positivity in the training sessions. The boys are getting along well and there is good team work and coordination.”
When quizzed about the Aizwal side, he stated that they are a good unit. Quick on the wings. We have watched them play. At home they can be very tricky. We are by no means taking them lightly.”
However, Sporting Clube have received a huge boost ahead of the Aizwal clash with the inclusion of Trinidadian midfielder Densill Theobald, who comes in place of Mahmoud Amnah.
The Aizawl FC coach Manuel Retamero Fraile informed, “We have to move up in the table. We will try to take full three points from this clash.”
